Concrobium Mold Control, 32 oz Review

Concrobium Mold Control, 32 oz

I have an unventilated bathroom and four adults using it regularly. Add to that my penchant for long hot showers and it's not surprising that a section of the ceiling is plagued with spots of dark mold. For a while I tried remedies like general cleaners on the end of a mop, and natural remedies like vinegar -- all yielded moderate results that were not worth the effort and odor, plus the paint on the ceiling was partially dissolved!!
This product not only helped reduce the ceiling spots just by spraying it at the ceiling on a weekly basis, it also got the shower tiles a shade of white previously unimagined. For the longest time I thought those tiles were just off-white because they never changed color despite vigorous scrubbing with things you'd think would get them their whitest. In fact, my mom used to use Clorox bleach but had to stop because it eventually destroyed the tub caulking and caused the shower water to leak into an adjacent room!!!
With this product, I sprayed the tiles liberally, let it sit for a good while (about an hour), and then set to scrubbing -- a yellow film came off of the tiles. I did break a sweat doing it but it was far less effort than I've used in the past trying to get those tiles clean. Then I re-sprayed and didn't rinse it off. I cleaned again a few days later and the remaining film came off with less effort.
Now I try to spray at least a few times a week after I shower and the tiles stay fairly clean, requiring minimal scrubbing once a week. The caulking is still blackish but much less nasty looking than before (I have to avoid scrubbing because I'm worried about another leak). The ceiling is much improved with a little mop scrubbing and frequent re-spraying.
One issue I have with this product is that much of it is lost when I try to spray the ceiling. I'm pretty sure if I could blast the ceiling with this it would get rid of the remaining mold. Alas, all I can do is spray upward while standing on the side of the tub and hope at least half of it is getting to the moldy ceiling because it seems like most of it is raining down on my head.

Although Sporiclean is specifically targeted for mold and mildew and ideal for flood clean up, I use it for cleaning everything in my home. I clean kitchen, bathrooms, pet stains, car stains, it works! I haven't found any applications that it doesn't work on. It's a concentrate, so a little goes a long way. And the best part is, it's safe for my family and pet.

McCulloch MC1235 Handheld Steam Cleaner Review

McCulloch MC1235 Handheld Steam Cleaner

I bought the product knowing little about steamers. What a pleasant introduction! I'm using it to cut through years of accumulated dirt and mold in my apartment. I can get into those places one forgets about, with great results. With its size and ease of use--the manual explains the parts and the process clearly--the McCulloch steamer is ideal for the urban apartment, and very easy to store. The most priceless thing about it is its non-toxicity. Good-bye to harmful cleaners. Hello to a green machine.

KRUD KUTTER KK32 Original Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser, 32-Ounce Review

KRUD KUTTER KK32 Original Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser, 32-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've never found anything that would remove the red dirt/iron stain from siding before finding this product. It gets the stain off everything I've tried it on. It does a great job, even gets the stain off my shoes. It also removes hair spray from the bathroom vanity and cleans the shower to a sparkling finish--just spray, leave for a minute or two, and rinse off with a wet cloth. Lots of other products say they get rid of soap scum easily, but I've tried many of them and they don't work very well, if at all. I've tried many products on the hair spray, too, and could only remove it with lots of scrubbing. With this product, it wipes right off. This is great stuff.

McCulloch MC1235 1300-Watt Handheld Steam Cleaner Review

McCulloch MC1235 1300-Watt Handheld Steam Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased my McCulloch MC1235 1300-Watt Handheld Steam Cleaner last year from [...], and I have loved it ever since! I use this great tool to clean automotive door / wall panels, engines, carpet, upholstery, and also household items such as microwaves, toaster ovens, vacuums and such. I have owned other steam cleaners in the past and gotten mixed results (from exploding boilers to no steam out of the box), but I am finally satisfied with the reliable performance and great customer service of McCulloch and SteamFast (manufacturer). When un-boxed, the vibrant yellow steam cleaner has grey accents and a high grade feel to the plastics used in its manufacture. I really like the refillable water tank, and also the eight minutes of steam you get with that container. Other brands of steam cleaners hold enough water to make less than five minutes of steam, and call for you to allow the unit to cool before refilling. With the McCulloch steam cleaner, you don't need to let it cool; just pour 8 oz of tap water into the reservoir and go!
There are some pros and cons with the cleaner I should mention:
Pros:
quick-refilling reservoir
high-powered steam
lots of useful tools
adjustable steam output
quick warm-up time
compact size
Cons:
loud water pump (as indicated by other reviews)
poor quality switches / reservoir cap
unit gets hot after extended use
As you can see, the pros outnumber the cons. The water pump is loud, but that is the trade off for having the amazing variable steam output switch... Speaking of that switch, you have to play with it to get the steam to come out "full power" as the quality of that particular switch is sub-par. This problem doesn't seem to extend to the steam switch, but I will update if anything happens. The reservoir cap is held on with two minute tabs less than 5mm long. I had to call the manufacturer to get a new one out of warranty (it broke 1 year 3 months of course ;D) but they were very helpful in sending me the correct part for a low price of less than ten dollars. The unit DOES get hot on the top and near both ends after long uses, but I always have it plugged in for at least 45 minutes when I clean so that may be part of it... Overall, I love it for what I use it for, and it beats purchasing chemicals all the time to clean everything. I hope my review will help make the decision to choose this steam cleaner over the inferior "infomercial" models... Thanks, and enjoy your new steam cleaner!
Alec

SteamFast SF-275 SteamMax Steam Cleaner Review

SteamFast SF-275 SteamMax Steam Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned and used steamers for several years. I purchased this to replace my older Delonghi Steam Clean Plus and here and overall found the unit produced consistent steam but lacking in pressure somewhat compared to my older model. I actually purchased the steam cleaner from a warehouse club and it had a very nice selection of accessories including an extension rod hanger that allows you to steam garments on a hanger extending from the top of the extension rod. Basically the steamer is the same as this model 275 in terms of boiler, wattage, basic design.
The unit did warm up fairly quickly and I was impressed with the quality of the accessories, using thick plastic, good quality rubber seals etc. This model I think would work well as doing primary duty as a clothes steamer but its lack of pressure make it not the best choice for blasting nooks and crannies, where a really good steamer excels as a cleaning maching no other device can touch.
Let me explain. I compared this steamer with the Saeco Piccolo steamer and with a high quality thermometer recorded the Saeco at about 190 degrees and the steamFast at about 170-180 degrees. Secondly I put a paper cup on the floor and with both machines heated up with a full tank of water, I pointed the nozzle at the opening of the cup to see which model would blow the cup the farthest. The SteamFast product blew the cup about five feet. The Piccolo blew the cup 15 feet and probably would have kept going if it was not for the wall stopping it. Not even remotely close.
Next I took both steamers out on my deck and pointed the nozzles at a hose that "overwintered" on my deck....complete with black moldy stains hiding the normally greeen hose. The SteamFast product blew steam at the hose but it did not really eliminate the moldy stains.
Next tried the Piccolo...WOW....this sucker blasted those stains down to fresh green hose.
Test over. Note: I also tried the same test with a Euro-Pro Shark Steam Blaster Ultra with similar results to the Chinese made SteamFast product.
I will add some more details in my review of the Saeco Piccolo. Needless to say, I returned the SteamMax.
Let me say, I think the overall positive results for this product are not surprising to me considering most users have not probably used an Italian made steam cleaner which seem to have hotter steam vapor, far more pressure, a longer track record of using similar technology in espresso machine manufacturing, etc. The downside of the Italian products is that it might be a bit harder to find parts and service for since they are not produced for the mass market like the steamFast and shark products. It's too bad as I really wanted the SteamFast or Shark to perform better.
Honestly if you don't make the comparison between the Piccolo or similar italian made steamer and the SteamFast, you may think you are getting a great product as it will produce consistent steam...but you won't be aware of HOW MUCH MORE YOU COULD DO with the serious pressure levels of the Italian steam cleaners. I hope some other people do some comparisons.
It was kind of fun to be my own consumer reports for the last few weeks, but I am a huge fan of these cleaners and their many uses. Most Americans have not caught on to what the Europeans have known for years.
