Electrolux Pronto 2-in-1 Stick Vac - EL1000A Review

Electrolux Pronto 2-in-1 Stick Vac - EL1000A

I bought this relatively pricey combo vacuum with the hopes of replacing two other devices: our cordless Dustbuster and corded Hoover Stick Broom. Unfortunately the Electrolux usually sits in it charger unused as it just doesn't perform well.
PROS: looks great, lightweight, very maneuverable around and under furniture, charging base has handy light that doubles as nightlight
CONS: very weak suction, clogs easily, design flaws for removable handheld, tends to scatter dirt instead of collecting it
We have 100% hardwood floors and tile/linoleum throughout the house, and our hope was to find a cordless upright that we could use for quick jobs of sucking up pet hair and dirt around entryway doors, etc. At first glance the Electrolux seemed the perfect fit: it was cordless but could be used on floors without having to bend over, and for tight spot jobs the removable handheld unit would negate the need for our Dustbuster. Unfortuntely it just doesn't perform well at all. Even for light hair and dirt jobs the upright clogs far too easily. There is a piece of flexible tubing leading from the bottom of the vacuum to the handheld unit (the handheld snaps into place near the base and actually does the suction), and the angle of this narrow, flexible tubing is about 90 degrees and the smallest leaf or twig causes a clog. If the tubing is completely clear the suction is decent enough for very lightweight sweeping, but even at that point the spinning brush in the base of the upright unit tends to throw small debris aside before the suction can pull it up into the bag (for example, I've tried using it to clean up light amounts of stray litter debris around the cat box but it tends to just throw the litter around the floor instead of sucking it up). I find that compared to the Hoover I have to go over the same floor area with several more sweeps to and fro to get all of the hair and dirt.
Other annoyances include the inability to empty the dirt collector without removing the handheld from the upright. Also the handheld power button will not stay in an On position without holding it tightly with a finger or thumb (when using as an upright the power will stay on by itself). The mouth opening of the handheld is also much smaller than your typical Dustbuster and even for small jobs takes several more sweeps back and forth to collect the same amount of dirt of just a few sweeps with a Dustbuster.
So overall I find myself using our two older vacuums and even going to the added trouble of putting an extension cord on the Hoover to do general house vaccuming instead of even bothering to pull the Electrolux out of its stand. Even though it's cordless it just seems to take longer and more effort to get the same amount of work done. It's basically not much more than an expensive nightlight for our laundry room. I really wish I had the good experience with it I seem to see other Amazon users reporting, but alas I cannot honestly say I feel this device delivers anywhere near what it promises.

Fuller Brush Workhorse Commercial Carpet Sweeper Review

Cheaply made handle.
Handle is out of proportion to a bottom sweeper.
I am afraid that one of these days, this handle will crack.
to put it back together, you'll need a welder.
Up to date sweeper works ok on small jobs

Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop Review

Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Halleluia! When my Bissell Steam Mop finally 'died' and I found out they didn't make them anymore I was devastated. The only place I found to buy them was ebay at a whopping $250! Anyway, I searched online for other models and read all their reviews. None of the reviews for other products sounded any where near the quality and hard work of my old Bissell. I saw this model (The Steamboy) and it looked similar to the Bissell, however - nobody had written a review, so I was a little skeptical.
I'm here to tell ya - this product is as good or, dare I say, even better - than the Bissell for several reasons: 1. it is lighter weight (but not flimsy) so my arms don't get tired 2. the head pivots easier and it is triangular in shape so it gets into the nasty corners under my kitchen counters and behind my toilets even better 3. the pads are easier to put on than the Bissell and the draw string to tighten them on is longer and therefore easier to work with and lastly 4. it has a carry handle and doesn't fall over when standing upright as my old Bissell did. Cons are 1. you have to make sure that the tank is all the way in or it is a little drippy 2. the cord could be longer, but I can't remember the Bissell's being any longer than this one.
So, if you want to replace your Bissell or give one as a gift this is definately an affordable option. If you've never used a steam mop, you will be amazed - and disgusted - by how clean your floors get and realize how dirty they REALLY were all those years when you used the ol' mop and bucket. This is faster too and requires no chemicals to clean!

Oreck Orbiter Multi Purpose Floor Machine Review

Oreck Orbiter Multi Purpose Floor Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are reading this, you are considering buying an Oreck Orbiter floor cleaning machine. I want to share my recent experience using this cleaning system.
The problem carpet in my house covers the family room and a short hallway to the kitchen, which includes a closet pantry. It is a white berber. The hallway builds up a lot of dirt, as it is high traffic. Additionally, we had stains around the pantry door where a bottle of apple juice had at one time spilled. The family room carpet had stains from spills, and as we raised four puppies, has had pet stains over the 19 years we have lived in this house.
We had tried many carpet cleaning solutions. All failed to clean the apple juice stains and the worst of the pet stains. None made the pathway dirt in the hall look more than a dismal gray color. Here is what we had tried:
1. A traditional professional steam cleaner. No effect at all on the juice or worst pet stains.
Little effect on the path dirt.
2. Sears Dry System for carpet cleaning. The results were the same as the steam cleaning.
3.A Bissel home steam cleaning upright unit. Once again, same results as 1 and 2.
4.The Rug Doctor steam cleaning unit (as a rental), which you have seen advertised on TV. Once again the worst pet stains and the juice stain remained. It did the best job on the pathway dirt, but did not eliminate it.
5. The Bissel Spot Bot, which uses brushes to scrub one small circular area at a time. It made progress on the pathway dirt, but again only to a gray color. It made no progress on the juice stains. Some of the pet stains got lighter after repeated usage, but were never completely removed. Sometimes this unit fails to actually pick up the dirty water it creates and just spreads out the stain rather than removing it.

Then we tried the Oreck Orbiter. It got the high traffic area more clean than it has been in MANY years, after only one pass. The juice stains were not completely eliminated, but were reduced to the point where you have to look for them to see them. Again, this was after only one try. I am confident that repeated usages, especially if we use the brush attachment, will remove them completely. The tough pet stains were cleaned up entirely. These are stains that had resisted FIVE other cleaning systems, and they disappeared ... the first time! ... using this Orbiter and the carpet cleaning chemicals that Oreck sells to use with it.
I believe the difference is the orbiting action, along with Oreck's superior cleaning chemicals. You literally get dozens of cleaning passes over the trouble spot in the same time and effort that would provide one or two passes with the other cleaning machines. And unlike steam cleaning in particular, no stains have started to mysteriously reappear a few days later. I believe the reason for that is the cleaning methodology. You first spray the carpet lightly with a cleaning solution, and use a separate solution on tough stains. Then you spread a powder over the area to be cleaned. As you use the orbiter, the powder soaks up the dirt, and is in turn picked up by the fabric pad on the bottom of the orbiter. When the dirt is gone, its in the cleaning pad, not forced down through the fabric of the carpet into your carpet padding.
If you are considering a permanent carpet cleaning solution, this is a good choice. And it really isn't physically difficult to use. It is about the same effort as vacuuming, from my experience.
It is not particularly inexpensive. Eighty dollars in chemicals were required for two hallways and two large rooms. We did have some chemicals left over, possibly enough to do half of one of the large rooms. If you don't have problem stains or areas, you may do as well with less expensive alternatives.

However, this is the ONLY way I will ever clean my carpets from now on.
Carpet cleaning is of course not all this unit will do. Because of the orbiting action, it will clean hardwoods, tile, and linoleum too. You could probabaly get away with using it on smooth concrete, such as your garage or carport surface. I have not personally used it other than on carpet, but I will be doing so in the near future. I'll update this after.
I hope this has helped you in evaluating whether to purchase this unit for you own use. This review contains my actual experiences over 19 years of trying to keep my berber carpet clean. This first time you use it, you will experience the same results I enjoyed. This is possibly the most enthusiastic recommendation I have ever given a consumer product. And no, I am not affiliated with Oreck in any way. LOL I'm just pleased with how much cleaner my carpet is.

Steam Penguin Hard Surface Steam Cleaner Review

Steam Penguin Hard Surface Steam Cleaner

I bought this item today at a home store, expecting it to clean just like on the HSN. After finally getting what looks like steam to come out, it did nothing but make the room humid. There is no power behind the steam, it does nothing to remove dirt like it shows on the commercial. I tried cleaning my stove, the baseboards, soap scum, my sink, mirrors, etc. and nothing came clean. It was not worth the money and I am returning it tomorrow. Maybe a more expensive brand would work better?

Hoover Elite Cyclonic Canister Vacuum with Power Nozzle, Bagless, S3825 Review

Hoover Elite Cyclonic Canister Vacuum with Power Nozzle, Bagless, S3825
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our Hoover wind tunnel vacuum was beginning to show some wear after 6 years (power cord insulation broken) so we decided to spend a little more money and buy a Dyson DC14. As soon as it was out of the box and turned on it made a horrible grinding racket so it went right back in the box and back to the store. I was gun shy about buying another vacuum and spent a lot more time trying them out. Having owned several Hoover vacuums including a carpet cleaner that I love, I began to think I shouldn't stray from a reliable brand but I was still open-minded as I shopped and used several different brands and models at the store. I found the Hoover Elite Cyclonic to be the best that I tried. It is very simple to operate, with common sense, intuitive hookups between the canister and hose and the hose and wand. The adjustable wand is heavy duty metal and clicks quickly and easily in and out of the power nozzle. The power nozzle itself has a light and a powered, spinning brush that I like. The cyclone canister holds plenty of dust and lint and is easy to empty. I was leery about buying a canister since I have always found uprights easy to move around but I have absolutely no trouble handling the Elite Cyclonic. The adjustable handle is a plus since I am tall and my wife is shorter, and we can both vacuum comfortably. An absolute plus given my worn electrical cord problem is the automatic cord reel, which winds the cord into the canister body at the touch of a spring-loaded button. The vacuum is powerful and pulled dust, lint, and hair out of the carpet as well as the Dyson I used, but with none of the noise and flimsyness that I experienced with that brand.
The ONLY minor complaint I have about this vacuum concerns the fact that since it is bagless, there is a slight dusty mess when emptying the canister container into the wastebasket. I believe this to be true with any of the bagless vacuums currently on the market, and it empties quite like the Dyson that I tried. This messy disposal is certainly offset by the convenience and cost savings of not having to buy replacement bags. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner!

Euro-Pro Shark Professional Electronic Hard Surface Steam Cleaner with Soap Injector Review

Euro-Pro Shark Professional Electronic Hard Surface Steam Cleaner with Soap Injector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing was the biggest waste of $200+ that I have ever spent. First off, I bought it to mainly clean hard floors (vinyl flooring mostly) but the steam sprays forward from one nozzel as opposed to down onto the floor. It sprays forward into a terry pocket that fits on the end of a wand, so the terry gets soaking wet and the floor gets the same cleaning as if you mopped with hot water! I used to own a Eureka Enviro-steamer that sprayed the steam down through several vents directly thru a terry bonnet onto the floor... straight down!! The Eureka worked fabulously except that I had to refill it 3 or 4 times to do all my floors so I gave it away and wasted my hard earned $$$ on this piece of garbage. Now, fast forward to 8 months after I buy it and the on/off switch that controls the steam flow is broken and I cannot turn it OFF!! So I can't use this thing at all because it doesn't build up pressure because the water is spraying out of the tip before it can generate any steam because it won't shut off!! I called the company after an hour of searching the web to find out who to call and guess what????? I have to pay to ship this thing to them with ALL the attachments and then pay to have it shipped back to me!!! DO I NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER 40 OR 50 DOLLARS ON SHIPPING????????? Needless to say, I'm aggravated as all get-out over this thing and my husband is mad that I gave away the Eureka on top of it all!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! BETTER YET, EVEN IF YOU ARE OFFERED IT FOR FREE DON'T BOTHER!!!
